Case Study Four - Ysgol Clywedog
Project: Window replacement programme
Location: Wrexham, UK
Contractor: Birse Construction
Window Fabricator:Sash UK
Brief: Strategic investment is being made across local education authorities, not just in individual schools, allowing them to plan and build for the whole secondary estate in the area, cutting through legal and design bureaucracy. This approach has led to the development of ‘super schools’. Rhosnesni High School is the first of two so-called ‘super schools’ to be completed in Wrexham. In this instance, the former St David’s, Groves and Bryn Offa schools closed and pupils are now being taught at the rebuilt Rhosnesni and Ysgol Clywedog sites.
Products Used: Defender Restricted Hinge, Virage Handle
The £22.2 million project provided new computer suites, technology rooms, a newly refurbished sports hall and improved outdoor sports provision.
Securistyle’s window hardware – austenitic restrictor hinges and locking Virage handles – was specified. Being manufactured from austenitic stainless steel makes the hardware corrosion-resistant and therefore will allow it to continue to perform in the long term.
