SECURISTYLE’S CERTIFICATE OF SAFETY

Securistyle ’s technically advanced anti-manipulation door lock cylinder has been awarded one of the most prestigious awards for quality and safety - a product kitemark.

The Securistyle anti-manipulation door lock cylinder has been specifically designed to prevent bumping - the latest form of burglary. The cylinder is Kitemark approved to BS EN 1303:2005, BS 3621: 2007 and approved by Secured by Design, meeting the requirements of PAS24:2007.

Bumping is a growing threat and is on the increase due to the simplicity of the procedure and the lack of specialised tools needed to perform the crime. Bumping does not damage the lock so there is no evidence of the crime, resulting in some insurance companies not paying out on a claim.

Securistyle’s door cylinder features an ‘active’ bump resistant technology which engages a pin to lock the key out if anyone attempts to bump the cylinder. The property is protected and the key is removed from circulation whilst providing evidence that a crime has been attempted.

Another benefit is a unique two-way key operation. This means that if a key is left in the lock on the inside in normal circumstances, the lock can still be operated from the outside - ideal for elderly or immobile residents if neighbours, family members or other key holders need to gain access to the property.

Ken Evans, national specification manager at Securistyle says, “Within newbuild apartment blocks and social housing developments many properties will share the same style of key which increases the possibility of the bumping method being used to gain entry into a number of properties.

“Our anti-manipulation door cylinder has been specially designed to protect homeowners from this increasingly common crime and reassure them that they are safe and secure within their own homes. We hope the kitemark accreditation will reinforce this even further.”

The increase in ‘bumping’ burglary means that housebuilders, specifiers and homeowners need to consider the security benefits when choosing a door lock, as a poor quality system may compromise customers’ safety.

OPEN DOOR FOR SECURISTYLE

Securistyle – the company behind the most widely specified window hardware products in the social housing sector - has launched a new range of door hardware.

With 30 years’ experience of developing innovative and market leading window hardware products, Securistyle is applying its industry knowledge and technical expertise to door hardware.

Ken Evans, Securistyle’s specification sales manager, said: “Diversification into the door hardware market will enable us to provide social housing specifiers with a complementary product range that meets the high standards on which Securistyle’s excellent reputation has been built.”

The new range, which is manufactured in the UK and complies with the latest legislation, comprises a multi-point door lock suitable for PVC-U, composite, aluminium and timber doors, door hinges, handles and door furniture such as letterplates, knockers, spyhole viewers and numerals. The products are backed by a 10-year guarantee and supported by Securistyle’s Partnership Pledge support programme.

Ken Evans adds: “We believe that the launch of the door hardware range will provide new opportunities for those social housing providers looking for a reliable supplier of high performance products that offer real solutions. Our window hardware is already one of the most widely specified ranges in the social housing market and our aim is to do the same with the door hardware.

“We are keen to work with those social housing providers who can benefit from our commitment to research, development and capital investment.”

UK FIRST FOR SECURISTYLE

24” inch defender hinge
24” inch defender hinge from Securistyle

The UK’s leading window hardware manufacturer, Securistyle Ltd, has launched the first domestic hinge on the market to support top hung windows of up to 1500mm in height.

The new 24” Defender hinge was developed in response to the increasing demand for larger windows in domestic properties and public buildings. Nigel Thompson, sales and marketing director at Securistyle puts this down, in part, to fashion. “Both consumers and architects are using an increasing amount of glass in their designs in order to create more striking façades and create lighter interiors.” He says.

Changes in regulations regarding acoustics have also led to glass becoming heavier and therefore the load pressure placed on hinges has increased. The 24” Defender hinge can support a maximum vent weight of 110lb/50kg.

The whole Defender hinge range was recently enhanced as part of the company’s £5 million investment programme over five years, which has seen 80% of its product range redesigned. The enhanced Defender range has seen improvements for both window fabricators and end users; including improved weather sealing, increased carrying capacity as well as the addition of the 24” hinge for top hung vents.

Already using the new hinge is The Gateshead Housing Company, which has begun replacing existing timber windows with PVC in 23,000 homes. The hinges were specified for their quality, to meet Best Value criteria and for the quality of Securistyle’s customer service.

All Securistyle Defender friction hinges come with a “no quibble” 10-year guarantee and are available in 430 ferritic, and 304 austenitic stainless steel for enhanced corrosion resistance.
